The government has implemented policies and measures to monitor the diversity of the media, complying to article 44; of Social Communication Law. The related measures are:
1. Analyzing journalistic products in media channels; and
2. Ensure the professional activities of journalists;
The Press Council of Timor-Leste (CITL) analyzes the journalistic products in media channels, as one of the measure in monitoring program. The measure is adopted to monitor and identify any infractions that possibly committed by media professional.
In addition, the program of ensuring professional activities of journalists is used as a measure to regulate journalist and media institutions, through the assessment and monitoring of journalism activities, according to the universal journalism principle, conduct law and journalism ethics, and social communication law in order to avoid any possible infractions.
In general, the policies and measures to monitor the diversity of the media are recognized to contribute toward the following National Strategies for cultural development (Details; Goal 1 National Strategy and Frameworks for Development of Cultural and Creative Sectors):
1. disseminate and promote cultural heritage; and
2. cooperate with national and international universities to capacitate Timorese cultural professionals in development of cultural projects;

The majority of journalist and media professionals are now awarded of universal journalism principle, conduct law and journalism ethics and social communication law.
