Palestine : lancement du rapport de l'UNESCO sur le développement des médias
UNESCO carried out a comprehensive, in-depth assessment of Palestine’s media landscape using UNESCO's Media Development Indicators (MDIs), in partnership with the Birzeit University Media Development Centre (MDC). The project was launched in October 2012 at a national workshop attended by the main stakeholders of the Palestinian media landscape. Since January 2013, a 15-person Advisory Committee has been set up. Widespread consultations involving 44 in-depth interviews (24 in the West Bank and 20 in the Gaza Strip) have been conducted with media experts, academics, directors of media institutions and journalists. A survey involving 510 journalists from all types of media in both WB and Gaza has been completed and the results classified and analyzed. The results of the interviews and surveys will serve to complement the information gathered by the research team through legal and literature review. A multi-stakeholder national conference was organized in Ramallah, Palestine on 7 July 2013 presented and discussed the initial findings of the assessment. On 11 December 2013 the national conference was held and thoroughly discussed the recommendation and chapters of the draft MDI assessment. The Launch of the final report will be an event held in Ramallah and Gaza, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 at the Caesar Hotel, Ramallah and Birzeit University, Gaza connecting via video conference, as an assessment of the Recommendation and publishing the report which is expected to feed into ongoing discussions on the definition of a national media strategy.
