2 November 2018 - The NGO Criar Brasil, Centre of Press and Radio for Community Communication, is hosting an online event using Facebook and social media networks. Short films are being prepared to be shared on social networks in order to raise awareness on the issue and share recommendations and guidelines on how to protect and prevent violence against communicators. 2 November 2018 - Radio France Internationale is organizing the fifth annual Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon scholarship for the occasion of IDEI, which awards a young African journalist and a technician with a month of training in Paris. The date 2 November for IDEI, proclaimed in a UNGA resolution adopted in 2013, was chosen to mark the date that journalists Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon were killed while reporting in northern Mali. Threatened journalists' attackers unpunished in Italy and in the world

22 October 2018 - The NGO Ossigeno per l’Informazione is organizing a public conference, with UNESCO’s patronage, to be held in the Italian Senate. It will be attended by representatives from intergovernmental organizations, public institutions, NGOs, media, journalists associations, and academia, with UNESCO's Director for Freedom of Expression and Media Development, Guy Berger, giving the keynote address. Ossigeno will present updated data on threats to journalists and legal actions brought against them in Italy and the conference will discuss the current shortcomings in legislation in both Italian and European jurisprudence and propose measures to address them. The map of threatened journalists: what Ossigeno has uncovered on threats against journalists in 10 years of monitoring

13 December 2018 – The NGO Ossigeno per l’Informazione, together with the Ordine Dei Giornalisti di Sicilia and the Centro Studi Pio La Torre, is organizing a seminar in Palermo called ‘The map of threatened journalists: what Ossigeno has uncovered on threats against journalists in 10 years of monitoring’.  As well as presenting data about the current situation in Italy and particularly Sicily, this seminar will focus on how data that the NGO has uncovered about the intimidation, threats, retaliation and attacks on reporters has helped sensibilize the public on these issues and encourage prosecution. MAIN EVENT - Strengthening regional cooperation to end impunity for crimes and attacks against journalists in the Arab world

2 November 2018 - The main commemoration of this year’s International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists on 2 November 2018 be held in Beirut, Lebanon with a focus on the Arab region. It will be dedicated to “Strengthening regional cooperation to end impunity for crimes and attacks against journalists in the Arab world.” The seminar will be organized by UNESCO and Lebanese authorities with the participation of representatives of national human rights commissions, the Arab League, and of judiciary systems, civil society and media from different countries in the region. It will aim to identify steps ahead and concrete measures to strengthen the fight against impunity and inscribe this issue in the framework of global efforts to promote fundamental human rights.
