Décrivez les principales caractéristiques de la politique/mesure: 

An Act to ensure the freedom of the press, to provide for a council responsible for the regulation of mass media and to establish an institute of journalists of Uganda. The Act provides for the right to publish a newspaper, establishment of the media council, registration of journalists, practicing certificate, professional code of ethics amongst others.

Quels sont les résultats atteints jusqu’à présent grâce à la mise en œuvre de la politique/mesure ?: 

1. There has been growth in the diversity of newspapers including local language newspapers like Bukedde, Rupiny, Orumuri, Etop etc that uphold responsible reporting of events thereby fostering peace and harmony.
2. There are new online news platforms reporting on events and entertainment news such as Chimpreports, Kampala Post, Softpower, Vanguard etc
3. There is increasing focus on the regulation and rights of journalists by government agencies such as the Uganda Human Rights Commission and civil society organisations.
