I am an ESRC Impact Innovation Fellowship postdoctoral researcher and widening participation practitioner at the University of Warwick. My current research examines the historical foundations of the 'othering' of Muslim women, and I am using virtual reality to show the lived experiences of Muslim women in colonialism. It further focuses on how the othering of Muslim women has been perpetuated in the arts and literature. I have further co-founded and coordinated the Colonial Hangover project, an outreach project for schools that examines the hidden legacies of colonialism. My PhD focused on Muslim group identity using securitisation theory, which I explored by focusing on the Muslim Council of Britain, Hizb ut Tahrir and the Quilliam Foundation. I have further been a research assistant on a project that focused on health inequalities and older adults' experiences from a BAME background during the Covid -19 crisis.
