Senior Adviser on Economics and Demography with UNFPA; previously co-authored flagship reports of UNCTAD on the world economy and the world's least developed countries. I am member of the Global Expert Network of the World Economic Forum, and the Koblenz-Landau Group on Systems Thinking and Sustainable Development. Recognized expertise in the fields of economics and demography, with a focus on structural change, sustainable development and the future of work, social protection and human capital. Extensive experience in the management of key accounts and the science-policy interface. Lead policy-oriented analysis and produce flagship reports; translate analysis into value propositions and strategic messages; shape policy agendas and programmes; and manage collaborations across institutional and geographic spaces; cultivate dependable partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including international agencies, government institutions, civil society, the scientific community and the private sector. -- To meet the needs of a large and growing world population without imposing catastrophic pressures on the environment is the challenge of this century; the challenge of sustainable development. Meeting it critically depends on inclusive and green economies, investments in people, and the empowerment of women. Contributing to this endeavor even in small ways gives me pride and purpose.

I enjoy the policy and industry-relevant research, focused on the development of ‘tools’ that citizens, policymakers and professional can use while at the same time not jeopardizing their scientific rigor. Over the last 15 years, I have been an engineer, a researcher, a university professor, and a consultant in the real estate and planning. My experience spans three countries and over the years I have run around 30 small research partnership projects with industry partners and public institutions in the Netherlands and I am a Co-PI of an innovation project with a Luxembourg start-up.
