Conference of the Eastern Silk Roads Story 2015

UNESCO, Gyeongju City Municipal Government, and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province are pleased to announce “The Eastern Silk Roads Story” conference, to be held at the Hilton Hotel, Gyeongju, Republic of Korea, from 1-3 December 2015.

Held in association with the 2015 Gyeongju World Culture Expo, the conference will provide a platform to advance scholarship and enhance global awareness of the history and culture of the Silk Roads along its eastern-most routes. It will bring together distinguished academics, experts, and curators from East Asia and other regions to share their work, expanding current understanding of the land and maritime links of the Silk Roads.The conference will also promote exchanges and collaborations in safeguarding sites, intangible, and underwater cultural heritage associated with the Silk Roads, as well as the dissemination of knowledge to the wider public. Presentation topics include Traces of Marine Exchanges Between China and Korea, Ancient Sea Roads Between the Continent and Japan, and the Virtual Collections of Asian Masterpieces, among others.
