Short description: 
I am a Senior Research Fellow with the Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalization, Deakin University, Melbourne. I studied architecture (M.Arch.) at Tehran University, Iran and researched my PhD at the University of Western Australia. In the past I have practiced and taught as an architect and urban designer. My current research is focused on the use of the past for present purposes and politics of heritage, design of the built environment, cultural and national identity in relation to heritage, museums and the built environment. Geographically, my focus is on West Asia and specifically on Iran and the Caucasus. I have published papers and books in these areas and my work has been translated into Persian, a language in which I have native fluency.

Dr Matteo Vergani is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at Deakin University, and Senior Research Fellow at the Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation. Matteo’s research focuses on the "ecosystem of hate", which includes discrimination, micro-aggressions, hate speech, hate crime and politically motivated violence. Matteo's research looks at the factors that cause and accelerate hate, as well as the factors that contribute to prevent and mitigate hate, such as social cohesion and inclusion of diverse communities in multicultural societies. Matteo has completed numerous impact evaluations of P/CVE projects in Australia and South East Asia.

Dr Eghosa Ekhator is a senior lecturer in law at the University of Derby, United Kingdom. He was previously a lecturer in law at the University of Chester. He holds a Master of Laws (LLM) and PhD in Law from the University of Hull. Eghosa has also been called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. His main research areas include international environmental law (with focus on the African Union and developing countries) and natural resources governance. He has also published extensively on these research areas. Nico Carpentier is Extraordinary Professor at Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic) and President of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (2020-2023). He is also a Research Fellow at Loughborough University. His theoretical focus is on discourse theory, his research is situated in the relationship between communication, politics and culture, especially towards social domains as war & conflict, ideology, participation and democracy. Dr Russell Kennedy is an academic and practitioner of communication design and filmmaking at Deakin University, Australia. He served as President of the International Council of Design (2009 and 2011). His research areas includes cultural identity and best practice policy as it relates to Indigenous representation in design practice. Dr Kennedy is the co-author of the multi award winning Indigenous Design Charters (Australian and International).
